Dear Protec Customer,
We are pleased to announce that on Saturday 23rd May 2009 we will be migrating all of our hosting services to a new network and brand new hardware.
We have largely invested in a new network with brand new servers and network equipment for all services. All servers will be new state-of-the-art machines and much more powerful than anything we have used before. This means your hosting services will be faster than ever and equipped to move forward for the future.
Due to this large network migration there will be some scheduled downtime in order to complete the move. The full details of this are explained in detail below:
Network Migration Dates:
:: On Saturday 23rd May at approximately 1AM GMT we will be commencing the migration.
:: All services will be stopped on that date - Saturday 23rd May 2009 at approximately 1AM GMT.
:: All services will be re-activated on Saturday 23rd May 2009 at approximately 9AM GMT:
Although this is a larger downtime than most regular scheduled maintenance, this is being carried out due to the nature of the server migrations. This allows us enough time to complete data synchronisations and to prevent any inconsistencies on the database servers (MS SQL and MySQL).
IP Address Changes:
This network migration will require a change of IP Address for all services.
For the majority of clients, this will not mean anything or make any difference to the way their domains and services work. As long as you are using our Name Servers for your domain names then you do not need to do anything at all.
However, if you run your own DNS Name Servers, or manage your DNS Zones externally, then you will need to update IP addresses to the new ones.

:: Due to the large scale of the migration we do recommend all clients check their websites and related services are working correctly after the completion date Saturday 23rd May 2009, 9AM GMT.
:: If after Saturday 23rd May 2009, 9AM GMT you have any issues with your website or related services please check the migration status page at http://www.protecsupport.com/support/migration/ and if no problems are noted then contact support at support@protecweb.co.uk in the normal manner. Please ensure you quote your account number, domain names with any issue and full details on the problem.
