To move UK domains to us (.co.uk , .org.uk etc):
Our IPS Tag is "PROTECWEB" (no quotes). You need to ask your current registrar to change the IPS tag of your UK domains to that tag. Please note that you must email sales@protecweb.co.uk to tell us when any of your domain names are moved to our IPS tag. There is no charge for transfering UK domains.

To move US level domains to us (.com, .net etc):

* New Instructions for US level transfers as of 28/10/2006.

Transfers of your .com and .net domains will require a transfer authorization key (EPP) for each name being transferred to or away from Protec.

The initial procedure for transferring domains remains the same:

  • Transfer verification must be made to the gaining registrar by the domain’s administrative contact(s).
  • The domain must be at least 60 days old
  • Domain must be in “ACTIVE or OK” status.
  • If a domain is transferred between registrars, ICANN's Transfer Policy states no re-transfer of the domain is permitted for 60 days from the date the transfer was complete, except in the case of dispute or legal proceedings.
  • Then, starting October 28 2006, all registrar transfers will additionally require the "transfer authorization key" or "EPP key" for each domain name being transferred.

Instructions to submit an incoming transfer request:

You need to email sales@protecweb.co.uk and ask for a payment link for a domain transfer and state the domain/s you want to move to us. You will be required to pay £9.00 + VAT per domain transfer. This is not an admin charge as a full year will be added to the domains current expiration date. This is a requirement that is made by the domain registration authorities.

You are also required to provide the EPP key that is provided by the current domain registrar for each domain to be transfered. Only they can provide the key and you should provide it in the email when requesting a domain transfer.

Below is an explanation of the US domain transfer process, please read it and take any action you feel may be necessary to ensure your domain name successfully completes the automated transfer process.

US lvl Domain Transfers:
You will be required by Protec's automated email system to verify the
request to ensure it is legitimate and that you are the rightful owner. This automated email will be sent to the domains Admin contact. This email cannot be sent manually by Protec staff and we do not have the power to change the admin contact on your domain.

If you are unable to receive email to the current admin address then you must contact your current registrar and ask them to change the admin contact for you. Once that is done ask Protec to resubmit the transfer request. Once the transfer request has been verified, Protec will submit the transfer request to Verisign Global Registry. Once a transfer request has been submitted to Verisign, the current registrar for the name will receive notification of the request. The Global
Registry will allow the current registrar up to 5 business days in which to approve or decline the transfer request. You may or may not receive verification material from the current registrar. If you do, you must confirm the transfer or it will fail.

Each registrar has their own policies concerning transfers away to another registrar. It is a good idea to contact your current registrar in order to make yourself familiar with their policies in order to avoid potential delays.

Some registrars have names locked against transfers that must be removed before a request can be submitted and some may send a verification email to verify the transfer away.
